The Planet Mars

Mars is a masculine planet, extremely fiery in nature. He is said to be the commander- in- chief of the planets of our solar system and is personified as the God of War. Mars has the nature of a warrior. The position of Mars in the horoscope shows the amount of energy a person has and how this energy is utilized. Therefore, Mars is the indicator of our physical and mental energy. He rules over determination, courage and bravery as well as leadership, self-confidence, forcefulness and physical strength.  Competitive spirit, athletics and the martial or military arts are all categories of Mars.  Mars presides over those in the food business, such as cooks and restaurateurs as well as policemen, soldiers, officers and generals.

Mars’ natives are often short-tempered. They may be argumentative and usually love guns, explosives and all types of weaponry. They have mechanical and technical talents making them skilled as builders and engineers. Mars represents the real estate, or land and housing business, including the areas of construction, buying, selling, renting or building.

Mars is orderly and likes things arranged properly. He gives drive and determination, as well as purposefulness.

Those ruled by Mars are generally fiercely independent and can react with violence if they feel it is justified. It can also make a person rash, impulsive and insensitive to the opinions of others. Passion or sexual prowess is also shown by the position of Mars in the chart.

More often than not a powerful Mars will also make for selfishness. It can make for a willing participant in illegalities in business, as well as fond of secret or illicit sexual relationships. A strong Mars gives stamina, courage and determination, making a person constructive and energetic. Red Coral

Coral is made of deposits of calcium and secretions from the invertebrate “coral polyp”. The deposits are built up in a structure resembling plants with branches. This creature generally lives in calm water and builds the corals in depths from 20 feet to as deep as 1000 feet. Red corals are this color due to iron oxide within them and are generally found in depths of 100 to 150 feet. The shallower the water the darker the color of coral and, obviously, the deeper the water the lighter the shades of color found.
To strengthen Mars, wearing a red coral stone (best), or strand of beads is recommended.  The deeper it is in color the more potency it will have. Unfortunately this gem is becoming in short supply due to uncontrolled farming of our seas. The wearing of this stone will increase vitality, courage and ability to work on things through to their fruition.  Physically it is said to strengthen the immune system, the muscles of the body and the male reproductive system. Generally I recommend a red coral gemstone weighing 8 carats (a minimum of 6 carats) for ring or pendant.

The sources of red coral are the Mediterranean, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Africa, Australia, Taiwan and Italy, although it is becoming unavailable commercially due to short supply. I have also been receiving some red corals from Tibet, giving me the understanding that at one time the sea came up to this mountainous country.

Instructions for Installation of Red Coral

Red coral should be set in a ring or pendant of yellow gold or a mixture of copper and yellow gold. Ideally installation should be done on a Tuesday, one hour after sunrise when the Moon is waxing.

• Rinse coral ring/pendant in water
• Rinse in organic cow’s milk
• Rinse again in water
• Place on home altar/shrine before a picture of the deity of Mars (have included a picture for you), or a Mars Yantra
• Light incense
• Meditate on desired benefits
• Chant following mantra 108 times:
• “Om Bhom Bhomaya Namah Om”
• Place ring on ring finger of right hand, or pendant on chain around the neck
