Ayurveda – life science

Ayurveda is now emerging as one of the most important mind, body, and spirit healing systems in today’s modern world. This ancient pre-Hindu science, said to be well over 5,000 years old, is considered to be the “Mother” of all Medicines.

Ayur or ayus translates from the Sanskrit term meaning “life.” Veda is knowledge or science and comes from the same ancient tradition as Yoga and Vedic Astrology and is as complex and thorough as the traditional Chinese medical system.

Ayurveda recognizes that life consists of body, senses, mind and consciousness – the anatomy of energy.

Ayurveda is considered to be a component of universal law, and therefore a timeless wisdom.

Ayurveda uses the building blocks of existence — ether, air, fire, water and earth elements — and studies their unique qualities. The five elements are manifest in the body as three basic principles known as the tridosha or Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Doshas are present in every living cell. When you are healthy, they are in balance; through everyday stress of life, imbalance occurs and we get ill. These energies affect you on a physical, mental and emotional level and influence all that you are and do.

Through workshops and individual consultations, Ayurveda can help us find our natural balance, thus maintaining optimal health in mind and body. Lifestyle adjustments such as diet, exercise, meditation, and color or gem therapy is taught.
